
Aberdeen City Council is to investigate using recycled plastic pellets to repair Aberdeen’s roads.
Liberal Democrat councillor Steve Delaney called for the local authority to research the “plastic roads” scheme in a bid to re-use waste and cut costs.

Councillors unanimously agreed the council should investigate the scheme, which would see recycled pellets added to an asphalt mixture to fill potholes and resurface roads.
Mr Delaney added: “It was agreed that council officers will look further into the possibilities regarding the use of this product in Aberdeen.
“They will also consult with colleagues elsewhere in the UK to obtain feedback on trials already undertaken.
“I am clearly hopeful that this will lead to a trial being conducted in Aberdeen in the very near future.”
