On May 4, residents across the North-east will go to the polls to pick their new councillors.
Elections will take place in 32 council areas across Scotland, including Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus.
In 2012, Labour won a surprise victory and formed a coalition with the support of the Conservatives and independents.
But with a potential second independence referendum looming, Brexit and a newly announced snap election, the political landscape has shifted significantly.
Candidates will be elected by the single transferable vote system which sees three or four councillors for each ward.
Voters will rank candidates in order of preference with candidates having to achieve a set share of the votes in order to be elected.
