A person has been cut free after a two-vehicle crash on a major north-east road.
The incident occurred just before 6am on the A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road, near Hatton.
The crash involved a blue Audi and a white Volkswagen caddy.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We got the call in just before 6am, to the A90 from Aberdeen to Peterhead at Hatton.
“We released a casualty from a two-car collision.
“We were using cutting gear and an electric saw.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “It involved a van and a car.
“There initially was a male trapped within the van.
“Injuries are not thought to be life threatening, but are probably life changing.
“The road is currently closed at the Berryflacks junction with the A90 and traffic is being diverted via the Toll of Birness, up to the A950 and back onto the A90.”
A spokesperson from the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 6am today to attend a road traffic collision on the A90, near Hatton Garage.
“We dispatched two ambulances to the scene and one male patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
The road was reopened at around 8.40am
