More than 80 homes hit by power cut

The River Dee bursts it banks and cause major flooding near Ballater

More than 80 homes have been hit by a power cut.

Properties in Lumphanan, Banchory, Alford, Craigievar and Strachan have all been affected by the power failure.

The power cut was caused by a fallen tree which brought down a line, resulting in a loss of power to homes in the AB33 area.

Engineers are currently at the scene trying to fix the problem.

A SSE spokeswoman said: “We currently have 43 properties without power in the AB31 area, which is affecting Strachan and Banchory.

“Engineers are on the scene to fix the problem which occurred at 2.05am after a wire was brought down due to weather.

“A tree has fallen onto a line in the AB33 area which has left 45 homes without power again due to the weather. Engineers are currently on the scene cutting the tree.

“We hope to have the power back in both areas by 1pm.”
