A project to spruce up a north-east town has been given a funding boost.
Aberdeenshire Council wants to spend £500,000 on restoring buildings in Fraserburgh to make the town more attractive.
The council wanted £50,000 of that cash to come from Banff and Buchan area committee, whose members approved the application yesterday.
Property owners will have to contribute their own money to repairs and cash would have to be paid back to the council once properties are sold – with the proceeds ringfenced for regeneration projects.
Committee member Councillor Brian Topping said: “It is a very positive move and will enable the council to get behind projects that will make buildings look better.
“This decision means the project can now move forward and we will hopefully see progress in the new year.”
