More than 50 sheep and lambs were killed in an accidental fire at a North-east farm.
Dozens of orphan lambs in pens and 13 ewes died in the fire, while a nearby herd of cattle escaped the flames.
More than 30 firefighters from across Aberdeenshire were called to the incident at Blackpots Farm, near Auchnagatt, on Sunday at around 7pm.
Initial reports suggested a shed was ablaze but when emergency crews arrived they found several farm buildings had been engulfed by flames.
Neighbours reported seeing smoke for miles around.
Officers said one of the structures alight was a 100ft by 130ft building.
A combine harvester was also destroyed in the fire.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control late on Sunday evening and officers returned on Monday to conduct an investigation.
A fire spokeswoman said: “This fire has been deemed accidental.”
The owners of the farm have declined to comment about the incident.
Charlie Adam of the National Farmers Union said: “Any loss sets a farm back, not just financially, but psychologically. My heart goes out to them.”
