A petition objecting to Donald Trump’s plan for homes at his north-east golf course has gathered more than 16,000 names.
The campaign calling for Aberdeenshire Council not to grant the US President planning permission was launched last month and has gained momentum – reaching 16,360 signatures of it 20,000 target.
It is claimed that, if planning permission is granted, the project could create 2,000 jobs during construction, almost 300 full-time posts and contribute £250m to the region.
But the petition claims Trump “cannot be trusted to deliver on his promises” for the resort.
It adds: “This new development will further damage the beautiful North Sea coastline.”
