A £1.6 million depot upgrade in Inverness will help improve rail services between Aberdeen and the Highlands, it’s been claimed.
The new mobile wheel improvement system has been installed by ScotRail Alliance to improve the performance and reliability of services between Inverness and the Granite City, as well as between Kyle of Lochalsh, Wick and Thurso.
Transport Scotland’s rolling stock programme manager Dougie Andrews said: “This Scottish Government funding builds upon the significant ongoing investment in infrastructure and rolling stock across the area, enabling more services and seats to be provided.
“This, in turn, is helping make rail travel a more attractive choice for commuters and leisure travellers in the north of Scotland.”
