An ordnance device found on Aberdeen beach has been exploded by a specialist bomb squad.
The controlled explosion was carried out at around 9.25am after part of Beach Esplanade was once again closed off.
The device was found by a member of the public with the police informed at 3.40pm yesterday
Beach Esplanade was closed shortly after from the roundabout with Beach Ballroom, the junction with Park Road and the junction with King Street.
It was reopened at around 8.15pm with a small cordon remaining around the section of the beach where the device was found.
But the road was closed again this morning at around 9am from the Beach Ballroom to Accommodation Road for safety reasons while the bomb squad destroyed the device.
It is expected to reopen again soon.
