When Lorraine and Roland Michie first moved into 6 Wellpark in Daviot, they never imagined they’d still be there 24 years later.
The four-bedroom detached property was just what they needed for their growing family and the Michies have spent many happy years making it their own.
But with their children now all grown up with homes of their own, Lorraine, 59, and Roland, 64, are hoping to downsize to something smaller.
The pair have loved entertaining at No 6 however and Lorraine, who works as an administrator, describes the lovely property as the party house.
“We entertain quite often and just love having a house full of people,” she said.
“The kitchen is a great room for having friends and family over, particularly since we remodelled it.
“It used to be sort of cramped with a separate dining room but a few years ago we decided to knock through the wall and it’s really opened things up wonderfully. The space is much more useable now and really family friendly for daily life, it’s my favourite room in the house to spend time in, for sure.”
And it’s certainly a great space, with cream units and wooden worktops contrasting nicely with a bright feature wall.
But it’s not just the house that the Michies have loved over the years.
“When we moved in there were only eight houses on the development,” said Lorraine.
“The community has grown since then but everyone is so friendly it makes it such a lovely place to live.Vie
“There’s a new village hall which always has something going on and we’ve made good friends in the neighbourhood.
“It’s great to have the countryside on your doorstep here and something I really will miss is the view of Bennachie while I hang out my washing,” Lorraine, said with a laugh.
“We’re hoping to move just down the road to Inverurie which has better public transport links now we are getting older.
“But we are certainly sad to say goodbye to No 6 and have lots of happy memories here.”
