When the Whitaker family moved into The Spinney at Greenheads, they never expected to be sharing it with a menagerie of animals too.
Bees, hens, a lizard and the addition of a spaniel puppy all take up lots of space, but there is plenty of room for all at the Peterhead family pad.
The four-bedroom detached property is also home to humans Antony, 52, Susan, 49, and their two children, Ailsa, 16, and 14-year-old Arran, who have spent the last 12 years making the property their own.
“I remember cycling past the house one day and noticing the ‘for sale’ sign, and I knew my wife and I had to take a look,” said recruitment manager Antony.
“It came at the perfect time as we needed more space for the kids.”
The Whitakers were already familiar with the area, having lived there for a total of eight years.
“One of the perks is getting the chance to spot deer and other wildlife from the windows around the house,” said Antony.
The Whitakers haven’t been shy about upgrading things over the years.
The modern kitchen diner was their most recent project, with a full revamp of all the fittings and fixtures turning it into the stylish heart of the home.
With daughter Ailsa set to start college and the couple regularly having to commute to and from the city, they are ready to settle closer to Aberdeen.
“The house just isn’t the one for us any more and it feels right to be relocating,” said Antony.
“It would certainly appeal to a family because of the space on offer.
“Or even those that need lots of room for a particular hobby, as the garage is a converted steading which can fit up to six cars inside.
“Although we’re sad to be moving, we’re excited and look forward to seeing what the future holds.”
