It was second time lucky for Janet and Neil Campbell when they sealed the deal on Logie Lodge in Banchory.
The spacious family home had been on the market once before, but having just missed out the first time around, this time the Campbell’s were determined that the five-bedroom property would be theirs.
“The first time we viewed the house was a couple of years before we actually ended up buying it,” said Janet.
“The problem was that it needed quite a lot of renovation work to get it how we wanted and we convinced ourselves out of it.
“The house was then rented out and we bought a new build not too far away.
“But in 2007 the house came back on the market and we went to have another look.
“It had obviously been on our minds the whole time so we just went for it.”
Janet, 53, and Neil, 59, along with their three daughters excitedly moved in, ready to carry out the first of their renovation work.
“The property only had one bathroom so we added another along with changing all the carpets and doing a bit of painting,” said Janet.
“Then in 2012 we moved out for a period of about four months while we knocked down a few walls and did some more major changes.
“We turned the main living areas into great open-plan spaces which were exactly what we were after.”
The end result has certainly been worth the wait, with the spacious kitchen diner and family room stealing the show.
The kitchen itself features a large island and modern AGA while the dining area has more than enough room to seat all the family.
The family space offers fabulous floor to ceiling windows with views over the surrounding countryside, as well as a trendy log burner to keep warm on winter evenings.
After 11 years of making Logie Lodge their own, the Campbells are ready for a new challenge however, and, after taking over a business in England a few years ago, are heading south of the border for their next chapter.
“We will miss this house very much,” said Janet.
“We put a lot of ourselves into it and it has been a wonderful family home.”
