Lesley Penny’s spacious house is located in a tranquil rural area in the village of Ythanwells near Huntly.
Lesley, 50, who works as a teacher, has lived in the quirky house with her husband Euan and their three children for more than a decade.
Lesley and her partner always dreamt of building their own house. And since they fell in love with Huntly, they decided to stay in the picturesque town.
She thinks the location is ideal for both her children, who attend schools in Huntly, as well as her husband, who works for an oil and gas company in Dyce.
She said: “It’s only a half an hour commute to Dyce.
“It’s quicker from Huntly than from Cults where we stayed before.”
Lesley likes to spend her spare time in one of the property’s two workshops.
She owns a small business called Whiskey Barrel Frames and recycles old barrels by turning them into frames.
She thinks the property would be ideal for families which are looking to buy a spacious house with period features. There are back stairs from the property’s utility room to the upstairs bedroom, which used to be a butler’s bedroom.
“We joke that whoever stays in the old butler’s bedroom has to make breakfast,” Lesley laughed.
There are also old bells in rooms to call the kitchen. While Lesley is glad these do not work any more, she likes having this quirky feature in her home.
The property has a spacious kitchen fitted with base and wall units and a contrasting island unit which incorporates a breakfast bar, sunny conservatory and five good sized double bedrooms.
She added: “Every single bedroom has a fireplace.
“All rooms are really spacious.”
The property, set in mature grounds of one acre, benefits from a large garden with a patio area and a hot tub.
It also has a polytunnel, vegetable patch and a patch for fruit bushes and trees.
