After a lifetime of renovation projects, it was a relief for Lisa McPherson to finally buy a home that needed nothing doing to it.
Even then, she couldn’t stop herself from putting her own stamp on number 40 Hilton Avenue after moving in three years ago.
The four-bedroom property, part of the Campus development, offered a ready to move into pad for Lisa and her son Joe.
Despite the fresh paint and new carpets installed by the developer, Lisa wasted no time in making the place her own.
“I love all things interior design,” said Lisa, 48. “I just enjoy decorating and picking out different pieces which will fit in each room.
“At the moment greys and whites are my favourite because they make everything look so bright and fresh.
“My favourite room in the house is the lounge, I’m not much of a cook so I’m pretty much in and out of the kitchen and much prefer to put my feet up on the sofa.
“It’s just such a relaxing room and visitors love it when they come round.”
The kitchen diner is another great space in which to entertain friends. It has plenty of units and worktops, as well as a large dining area. The garden has been another perk for Lisa, who works as an HR director.
“We have French doors out to the garden, which is absolutely enormous for a city centre property,” she said.
“It’s great for our two sausage dogs, Chloe and Frankie, and has been perfect in the fine weather for having barbecues.
“In fact I think it’s probably the biggest garden I’ve ever had out of all the houses I’ve lived in and although I’m not much of a gardener I’ve really enjoyed having it.”
With Joe now getting ready to start university and move out, it seems old habits die hard for Lisa.
“First and foremost I’m looking to downsize,” she said.
“It’s far too much to have a four-bedroom property to myself as much as I do love the house.
“But I’m looking for a renovation again this time.
“After three years of living in a brand new house it turns out that I’ve missed having a project after all.”
