Ronnie Lees and his cheeky cockapoo Chester are well-known around the village of Old Rayne near Insch.
The pair have lived in the area for a number of years and spent the last four years at Number 10 Barreldykes Way.
The four-bedroom property caught the attention of Ronnie when it was put up for lease.
At the time he was renting a house just round the corner, and narrowly missed out on Number 10 as it was snapped up by another tenant.
However not long after, Ronnie’s fortune changed.
“The owner knew I was now looking to buy,” he said.
“So when the house went up for sale some time later, he asked if I was still interested.
“I said of course I was and we ended up arranging everything by text that evening.
“It’s certainly not the normal way to buy a house and I celebrated with a wee glass of wine,” he chuckled.
An engineer in the oil and gas industry, Ronnie enjoys the best of both worlds in Old Rayne, in a tranquil country home which is within easy commuting distance of Aberdeen.
“It’s a great place to live,” said Ronnie, 53.
“It’s lovely and quiet and is the sort of place where everyone looks out for each other.
“I’ve got great neighbours and made some firm friends.
“But I’m looking to move closer to my family who live down in Lanarkshire.”
As well as the location, Ronnie was drawn to Number 10 because of its emphasis on open plan living.
The L-shaped kitchen diner is a particularly versatile space, with plenty of room for entertaining.
“That’s where I spend most of my time,” Ronnie said.
“It gets the sun all day and is perfect for having friends and family over.”
And it’s no surprise that Ronnie’s house is popular with guests, as it comes complete with its very own hot tub and bar in the garden.
“I’ll really miss the community and the feeling of quiet up here in Old Rayne,” he said.
“But I’m ready for a change and looking forward to being closer to family.”
