It is often said that home is where the heart is, and the saying could not ring more true for the Strachan family.
Jackie and Nigel knew they were on a tight deadline when it came to building Number One Western Road, and not just because they were eager to move into the four-bedroom property.
Their plans had incorporated a beautiful sun lounge, which was transformed into a wedding venue.
Jackie’s sister Coreen said “I do” with her husband Kenny at Number One, on what was also Jackie and Nigel’s 28th wedding anniversary.
Close friends and family arrived for the very special occasion, so the Strachans will be leaving some wonderful memories behind.
It’s not hard to see why Coreen wanted to host her nuptials in the sun lounge, with its beautiful vaulted ceiling, south-facing windows and French doors leading to the garden.
“We had done self builds before but talk about pressure – we wanted to be finished in time for Coreen’s big day,” said Jackie.
“Everyone pitched in to help, my eldest son is a plumber and my youngest son is an electrician so they were on site and Nigel was the project manager. Nigel had a lot of friends who came to help get the house finished, we have been very lucky indeed.
“We wanted a nice big family house and when Coreen got married, it was a wonderful weekend.
“I was her maid of honour and a close family friend was the registrar, it was perfect.”
Jackie and Nigel have also made sure to keep their home in immaculate condition.
There is underfloor heating, two public rooms and two of the bedrooms are en-suite including the master bedroom.
There is also a south-facing rear garden with large lawn and patio area on offer for alfresco dining.
“It had been a remarkable three years here but our three children have left home now, and this house needs to be filled with people,” said Jackie.
“We also want to move closer to my parents in Inverurie and hope new owners can come along and make memories of their own.”
