After years of sitting in traffic commuting across Aberdeen every day, the quiet cul de sac of Murray Crescent in Aberchirder was exactly what Linda and Gary Geddes needed.
And the move out to the countryside is a decision which the pair have not regretted, as they have spent the last four years living a more relaxed pace of life.
The fabulous three-bedroom bungalow has been the ideal place to let go of the stresses of modern life, while West Highland terriers Millie and Hamish have enjoyed the long walks at nearby Cullen and Portsoy.
Baker Gary and Linda, who works as a shop assistant, are hoping to soon retire to sunnier climes, but will miss the close-knit community they have grown to be a part of over the years.
“We are good friends with the neighbours,” said Linda, 59.
“We keep an eye on each other’s dogs if we are out all day and make sure to take any deliveries in if they get left on the doorstep. You don’t get that sort of thing in cities.
“There’s also a local football team and a couple of really great pubs. We’ve made lots of friends out here and there are plenty of activities to get involved with.
“I work in Turriff and Gary works in Banff, we never need to sit in traffic going into Aberdeen anymore. It’s great!”
As well as the village location, the couple were impressed by the space on offer at Number 10.
Linda said: “The kitchen and sun room area are my favourite, we spend almost all our time in there.
“It’s partly because the views are so wonderful. The house is in an elevated spot and you can look down right over the countryside and see the rooftops of the village.”
