When John and Tracey Anderson drove to Fraserburgh to view a property 11 years ago, it was the last place they expected to find their ideal family home.
But 1 McLeod Place proved to be exactly what they were searching for, and has made for a very happy home over the years.
Initially the pair were keen to stay in their home town of Peterhead when they began their property search, and going to see the house 20 miles away in Fraserburgh was more of an exercise in ruling it out.
“We just planned to look and see what was on offer,” said John, 43.
“We never planned to buy it and even when we were driving into Fraserburgh we had doubts about why we were even looking there.
“But as soon as we saw the house we just couldn’t get it out of our heads.
“We did fall in love with it and it was perfect for our family.”
And it’s easy to see why the spacious, four-bedroom bungalow appealed to the Andersons, with its quiet cul-de-sac neighbourhood and modern interior.
The property has also been great for raising the couple’s two children, Jon, 11, and three-year-old Jessica.
Now housewife Tracey, 36, and John, who works as a verification engineer, are planning to move a little closer to Peterhead to be nearer to family, but will miss the community they’ll leave behind in Fraserburgh.
“Everyone in our area here knows everyone and it is so friendly,” said John.
“It’s lovely and quiet with no traffic going by so the neighbourhood kids are always out on their bikes playing. The house is also a corner plot so there is a huge garden.”
And it’s not just outside that there is plenty of space, as inside the property is a lovely lounge and an open plan kitchen/dining room. A further family room, which is currently being used as a playroom, is also on offer.
“We really didn’t need to change much when we moved in,” John said. “It’s just been a great family home and we are truly sad to leave.”
