There has to be a good reason behind James Story’s decision to sell his gorgeous two-bedroom ground-floor flat.
Especially when you discover this property was built for the celebrated Scottish photographer George Washington Wilson
James, director of Ansco (UK) Limited, said: “Aberdeen University gifted the land to him and he had it built as an artist’s studio.
“The property when I viewed it was in a sad state of disrepair, however, I saw its potential and especially loved the high ceilings it has.”
James, 34, moved in to the historic west end property five years ago.
He has done a marvellous job with the complete refurbishment of the property.
The accommodation comprises an entrance vestibule, large reception hallway, lounge/dining area, breakfasting kitchen, two double bedrooms and a luxurious shower room.
The lounge is James’ favourite room.
“I love the large picture windows because they allow in so much light which floods the room.
“Its equally great in winter, too, as it is so cosy with the coal fire on.”
James opted for both stunning Italian marble tiles and also solid wood flooring.
He has kept the decor simple – after all, with gorgeous original period features including cornicing and part leaded glass windows, why wouldn’t he?
“Its been a happy home to me,” he added.
“Its been brilliant having friends round and having plenty of barbecues in the garden.”
Speaking of which, there is a rather quirky feature there… a Victorian greenhouse.
Hopefully, Mr Wilson though had better success with his tomatoes than James has.
And the good reason for the sale?
James is relocating to Inverness to set up home with his girlfriend Claire Thomson.
