When you’ve been city slickers all your life, making a move out to the country can feel like a big step.
For Chris and Sam Ether from Aberdeen, a home out in Kingseat near Newmachar was the perfect stepping stone.
Just 10 miles from Aberdeen and complete with all the perks of country life, 4 Canmore Gardens has been the ideal place to welcome their children Amelia, five, and one-year old Mason into the world.
Altogether the Ethers have spent nine happy years at Number 4, and have enjoyed putting their own stamp on the three-bedroom property. However, now on the hunt for more space, they are ready to take the next step and leave Kingseat for a place in the country.
“Coming out of the city just that wee bit has been great,” said Chris, 38.
“We have views of fields from our front windows and sometimes see deer when we are just sitting on the sofa.
“The community feel around here is great too and is something we have really enjoyed.
“We looked at five or six houses before we saw this one, but when we walked in here we just loved it straight away.
“It wasn’t new when we bought it but being a new build means that we’ve had no trouble with the property and have been able to just enjoy living here.
“They layout of the house suited us too as all the rooms are really big and bright.”
The heart of the home is the lounge, which offers double aspect windows and plenty of room for dining furniture.
In the kitchen there is ample unit and worktop space as well as French doors leading to the garden.
Upstairs all three bedrooms are of a good size, something which hasn’t gone unnoticed by Chris.
“Often when you buy a three-bedroom house, one room is a tiny box room,” he said.
“Here we’ve had double beds in all the bedrooms. We’ve found them to be plenty spacious.”
Outside, the Ethers have also enjoyed the fully enclosed garden of Number 4, while to the front of the property is a single garage with off-street parking.
“We are really sad to be leaving Kingseat but the time is right for us,” Chris said.
“We’ve had great fun here but are looking for a place in the country with some more room for the kids as they grow up.”
