It was the house which saw the Lovies graduate from a flat to a fully-fledged family home, and since then 12 Westholme Crescent North has proven to be the perfect grown-up pad.
Ewen and Rebecca Lovie purchased the three-bedroom semi-detached property in 2013 and since then have spent five very happy years making it their own.
The pair have loved entertaining at Number 12, and Ewen, who is a restaurateur, has loved playing the host in his own home.
“The lounge and dining room are my favourite spaces to spend time,” he said.
“There are partition doors between them which slide open and create a great entertaining space.
“It’s ideal for having people round, which is something we like to do a lot.
“Every year we hold a Burns Supper night at the start of the year then try to do something in most months from then on.”
When they are not entertaining, however, there is peace at Number 12 as Ewen, 46, and Rebecca, 37, have enjoyed the quiet west end neighbourhood.
“One of the reasons we liked this house so much was down to the area,” said Ewen.
“It’s out of the city centre but still close to lots of amenities.
“Before this place we were living in a flat in town so it was great to move out to a quieter area with lots of green space nearby.
“Hazlehead Park is just a five-minute walk away and there is even a burn running along outside the front of the house.“
Ewen and Rebecca, who is a project accountant, were chuffed to have their own garden for the first time too.
“It’s not a huge garden but we wanted to make the most of it,” Ewen said.
“So we replaced all the fences and paths and spent time trying to perk up the grass. It’s been great to have a private space for our dog Ari.”
The Lovies are now on the hunt for a property with even more garden space.
“We are thinking somewhere in the countryside,” said Ewen. “I run the Quayside Restaurant in Gourdon so maybe somewhere around Stonehaven would suit us.”
