Joe Bonamassa’s mix of intricate licks from a master’s guitar and punchy vocals accented a virtuoso performance.
But to pin Joe down to one genre would be a mistake. He went from 80s influenced ballad to country inspired crooning, in the blink of an eye and the change of a guitar.
The constant, however, remained his band.
The bass was solid, and the drums always in sync. His backing singers played their part magnificently, and his horns and keyboard were each given their place to shine.
During his encore, Joe promised he’d be back to the city. I for one hope he’s telling the truth.
