It was love at first sight for Simon Robson when he first spied 7 Balbithan View – but his wife Judith needed some convincing.
After viewing the five-bedroom new build just once, Simon had made up his mind. When the pair found out the developers could alter the internal layout of the property just for them, Judith was on board too.
Situated in Kinmuck just outside Inverurie, the Robson’s bought their home 12 years ago and it has been the perfect home to raise their two daughters, Frieda, 19, and 18-year-old Christi.
The family have loved living there, and Judith, 57, said the unexpected opportunity to design their own layout was stroke of luck.
Judith is currently teaching at St Margaret’s School for Girls and Simon is a retired geologist.
With their daughters now all grown up, they believe the time is right for a change but will find it difficult to leave No 7 behind. “We really wanted to have an open plan living area, but so many of the houses we looked at were quite closed off,” said Judith. “With this property we got to have it exactly as we imagined.”
And remodelling the entire ground floor wasn’t the only change the pair have made over the years. They converted the top floor of the property from an attic into two generous bedrooms.
“It really gave the girls their own space and a sort of den which they loved,” said Simon, 65. “The extra rooms also gave us more opportunity to have friends and family stay.”
The property offers a bright and spacious lounge, as well as a fantastic open-plan kitchen diner.
A particularly impressive highlight is the master bedroom, which features a Juliet balcony with stunning countryside views.
The couple may be saying goodbye to their home, but not the area they have come to love. Judith said: “We’d made lots of friends locally. Our plan is to stay in the area, but just to downsize a little.
“With both our girls away at university, I’ll be sad to leave our family home.”
