From the outside, number 12 Slains Avenue belies what space lies beyond.
Yet, for owners Steph and Paul Forbes, they already had the advantage of knowing the spaciousness on offer in the lovely three-floor property which Steph affectionately calls Tardis.
So when it came on the market in the summer of 2007, its no wonder the young couple jumped at the chance to own it.
Steph, 36, an HR co-ordinator with Canyon Offshore, said: “My husband Paul used to hang around with the guys who lived at the property when they were teenagers.
“We were already living in the Bridge of Don and I had only just discovered I was pregnant with our daughter Mischa. So we knew it would make a brilliant family home for us.”
Having already cut their teeth doing up their previous home, Paul, 39, a machine supervisor at GE Baker Hughes, and DIY enthusiast, was raring to go to transform the five-bedroom property.
Seven years ago, the Forbes’ added to their brood with the arrival of son Joe.
The accommodation comprises of a lounge, bathroom, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, and two further bedrooms and the family bathroom on the second floor.
The kitchen, and in particular the window seat, is where Steph likes to hang out with the children.
“I love to cook, and Mischa and Joe will usually sit on the window seat and chat about their day to me while I prepare our meals.
“What Mishca loves most about her bedroom is the stunning view she has of the North Sea, and she likes to watch the sunset bob on the horizon before it disappears,” she said.
The family is planning to remain in the area, and is seeking another property which offers as much potential.
