A TRIP into town on a Sunday is always such a laid-back affair.
Shops much quieter, no bustling lines and my daughter and I discovered it’s also far easier to grab a quick bite to eat at somewhere we’d been eyeing up for weeks but had always been queued out the door.
And we were to discover So is a very apt name for this independent sandwich and coffee shop in the city’s heart. We were ‘so’ surprised by the very warm welcome we received by enthusiastic counter staff and ‘so’ impressed by the very helpful rundown on the huge range of sandwiches and fillings on offer.
The description of the Weeping Tiger Steak Stack (£5.80) was ‘so’ tempting and mouth-watering I couldn’t resist. My daughter opted for the chicken fajita filling “with everything” in a sour dough bun (£4).
My meaty choice came in delightfully crispy-topped glass bread. The generous helping of tender garlic and chilli marinated steak was set off perfectly with Asian slaw and tangy tomato and chilli jam.
My daughter was just as delighted with her sour dough sandwich which was packed with tasty, spicy chicken.
A friendly spot with good value, tasty food … ‘so’ we will definitely be back.
