WHEN you are watching your weight, Chinese is always a good option.
Things like chicken chow mein don’t carry the calorie punch of some dishes – nor does it, in my opinion, carry the flavour.
Which accounts for our choice of cheese and chicken pancake rolls (£4) to start followed by chef’s special hot noodles (£6.10) and lemon chicken (£5) with chicken fried rice (£5.90).
The rolls were stuffed with gooey cheese, tender chicken, in a spring roll-style casing. And they were outstanding.
The lemon chicken was a real treat, two breasts in a butterfly-light batter with a tangy sauce that was sharp without being cloying.
It went superbly well with the chicken fried rice, chock full of meat, peas and onion, which Mrs B was sharing with our wee one.
The star dish, though, was the fiery hot noodles, shot through with pork, chicken, king prawn and veg. Superb and a massive portion, too.
