Review: Soy Cook Chinese, School Road, Aberdeen

Left alone at home for a few days it was only natural that I would return to my traditional foraging grounds – Aberdeen’s takeaways.

Turns out there is a new boy on the block quite close to my humble abode, Soy Cook in Seaton.

Choosing not to be totally lazy I decided to let the delivery person have a night off and headed round to the takeaway and first impressions were good – it smelled delicious.

I opted for my predictable starter of satay chicken skewers (£4.20) but with no supervision from my other half I also grabbed a portion of the smoked shredded chilli chicken (£3.99) … just because.

Getting the smoked chicken turned out to be one of my best decisions in recent times – it was a winner. It was so good it threatened to overshadow the rest of my meal and while I was eating my chicken satay – which was also tasty – I was still thinking about the smoked chicken.

For main I went for the honey chilli chicken (£4.50) and egg fried rice (£2.20).

It was another lovely dish … but it wasn’t the smoked shredded chilli chicken.
