Ruby had long been our go-to takeaway of choice, but recently we’ve been lured away by food from different parts of the world.
However, after a few disappointments, it was time to return to what we knew best.
We always share dishes and chose a starter of spare ribs in Peking sauce (£4.40), mains of honey crispy chilli chicken (£4.80), Chef Special chow mein (£4.50) and a portion of egg fried rice (£2).
The ribs were juicy and tender and the Peking sauce fruity and aromatic.
The mains were both generous portions.
The chow mein with succulent slices of chicken, beef and tasty pork, as well as plump king prawns, was delicious.
The noodles were soft and perfectly cooked and the chow mein sauce was full of rich flavour.
Sadly, the yummy honey chilli chicken, in a tasty sweet, sticky sauce, was lacking the chilli kick we’d come to expect.
There was too much food for the two of us to cope with so No1 son landed lucky with the leftovers the next day and he agreed with us that we will still keep Ruby as our Chinese takeaway of choice.
