I was delighted to discover a wee gem of a takeaway just five minutes from my front door … but also felt a bit foolish I’d never tried the great food it dished up before.
We chose the set meal for two – two popadoms with dips, choice of starter, two mains, choice of veg side, nan and two pilau rice.
We got off to a promising start with the mysterious sounding Ayaan chicken special.
This was so tasty.
Big chunks of lightly battered chicken on a bed of sweet, soft onions.
And the main courses lived up to that promise.
My husband’s choice of chicken mango Mali was heavenly.
More plump chunks of juicy chicken in a thick, mildly spiced sweet sauce of coconut, ground almonds and mango puree.
This got a big thumbs up.
We were glad of the big naan to mop the delicious sauce up so none of it was wasted.
I chose the ‘chef’s signature dish’ of Jafloni Mirch.
It’s a dish he deserves to be proud of.
More big chunks of very flavoursome chicken in a sauce rich with garlic and ginger and a zing of coriander.
I’d never tasted anything like it before but would definitely have it again.
Even the veg side dish of Bombay aloo was as tasty as the other dishes.
Very impressive food.
