Initally planning to go out for dinner, we quickly realised there wasn’t a table to be had in Inverurie with everywhere booked up for Mother’s Day.
Mixing it up from our usual Indian takeaway, we decided to try Asian Kitchen.
There weren’t many veggie options on the menu, but to my delight they created a bespoke vegetable noodle dish completely from scratch.
Often I find oriental food a bit syrupy and sweet, but this dish was light; the stir-fried veg had a decent crunch, the aromatic sauce was subtly spiced and was reminiscent of dishes we’ve had in Southeast Asia.
My husband opted for vegetables in black bean sauce with egg fried rice.
It was tasty and had all the hallmarks of the classic dish with a rich soy flavour and a hint of sweetness which cut through the savoury saltiness.
The generous portions meant there was enough to go round for lunch the next day with leftover spring rolls.
