You may not know this, but tucked away neatly inside the East block of North East Scotland College is Aberdeen’s best kept secret: Gate 63!
Operating three services per week, Gate 63 is a modern, attractive restaurant that doubles as a real working environment to its students studying Professional Cookery and Professional Food and Beverage Service. The facility is open to all, students, staff and the general public.
In the restaurant, students learn how to prepare and serve meals to paying customers in preparation for their careers as full time hospitality professionals. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes, it will change regularly and in accordance to what the students are studying at that time.
The name is derived from where the college is situated, “Gallowgate” and from the year that the building was built, 1963.
Events will regularly be organised and hosted by the students, as well as lunch services on a Wednesday and a Friday and dinner service on a Thursday.
The restaurant does not currently hold an alcohol license and operates a ‘bring your own bottle’ policy. Booking is essential in case there is a private event.
So if you are thinking of an alternative venue for a business lunch, a Christmas party or just a general treat why not pay Gate 63 a visit and support the future of the hospitality trade!
