Seeking sustenance after a shopping visit, we decided to head upstairs in John Lewis for a quick and easy meal.
This midweek afternoon, things were pretty quiet in the bright and airy restaurant and it wasn’t long before we were served at the counter.
I went for a red lentil and chickpea dhal served with rice and chutney, while mum chose lemon and garlic chicken with chips and ratatouille.
Well warmed plates ensured the food was kept toasty till we got to our seats.
Mum said the chicken – a generous quarter portion served on the bone – was well flavoured and tender, while the veg side dish was a welcome complement.
My curry had a bit of a kick to it, and was an appetising blend of lentils and veg, though the portion could perhaps have been a bit more generous – and I was happy to help with the tasty chips.
