Showgirl glitz and glamour meets battered old tour bus, Priscilla, in a heart-warming, uplifting tail of fabulous friendship.
The musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert follows the journey of drag queens Mitzi and Felicia as they travel through the Australian outback hunting down the opportunity of a lifetime. Along the way they bump into Bernadette, a recently bereaved transgender woman.
The latest show from local amateur production company, That’s Showbiz Productions is playing at the Tivoli from Wednesday evening until Saturday night.
Kevin Thorburn who plays Bernadette Bassinger, said: “It’s a really fun, camp show with an underlying sub plot of friendship. It’s very outrageous and there’s lots of costume changes – the quickest is 13 seconds.”
Throughout the performance audiences can expect disco musical numbers such as True Colours, I Will Survive, Shake Your Groove and a Kylie Minogue medley.
Kevin added: “Imagine a crazy boogie bus adventure. It’s guaranteed to make you laugh out loud and cry your heart out. You will 100% be dancing in the aisles by the end of the show, you really don’t want to miss it.”
The show features a full scale revolving bus with more than 300 costumes and around 20 cast members.
