When the Coplands moved into 8 Balfluig View in Alford, it marked the start of a fresh chapter for the family who swapped an old farmhouse for the stunning five-bedroom new build.
Audrey, 55, a retired staff nurse, and Graham moved partly because they wanted to be closer to family. But the move was also to let their daughters – Georgia, 20, and Savannah, 22 – become part of a tight-knit community and make plenty of friends at the local secondary school.
Fast forward a decade and the girls have now grown up, so the couple are planning to downsize along with Bodie, their dog. However, they’ve made some very happy memories over the years and will be sad to say goodbye to their neighbours.
“We moved here because we wanted to be closer to village life,” said Graham, 53, a retired accounts manager.
“In our previous house it was a military exercise just to get the girls over to a friend’s house.
“I honestly can’t speak highly enough of our time spent here; it was such a refreshing change when we moved in.
“The thing we have loved the most is just how much space is on offer.
“The girls always had their friends round for sleepovers and we had more than enough room for entertaining.”
Their home certainly impresses from the moment you walk through the door and see the elegant hallway which leads through to the beautiful lounge.
This room boasts a bay window and is ideally placed for all the family to come together.
But there’s also the more formal dining room, not to mention the extensive dining kitchen.
As if the space on offer wasn’t enough, Graham and Audrey decided to add on a beautiful sun lounge, which is where they spend most of their time.
“We’ve been very lucky to have so much space available and we love the sun lounge. We’re really glad we added it,” said Graham.
“It’s the perfect room for summer but we use it all year round.”
All five bedrooms can be found upstairs and are of an excellent size, including the en-suite master bedroom.
This room in particular offers excellent storage and has been tastefully decorated, while a further bedroom is also en-suite.
The family bathroom offers a three piece suite and separate shower.
Head outside where there is an easy to maintain garden to the rear which consists of a lawn and an attractive patio area.
You need not worry about parking thanks to the double garage and driveway.
“This was a brilliant family home for us and served us well, we’ve been very lucky to have brilliant neighbours as well,” said Graham.
“We’ve loved Alford because everyone has been so friendly and there’s always something going on.
“Not many villages can offer a dry ski slope, a swimming pool and a golf course.
“We’ve made so many friends here, we chose Alford because it had so much to offer for our family and it hasn’t disappointed.
“Now the girls have moved on it’s time we did the same, but we hope another family will be just as happy here.”
