The view from the gallery at 2 Redmyre Steading in Fordoun is quite simply breathtaking.
Throw in to the mix the peace and tranquillity; watching deer run in the surrounding field as swallows swoop and dive, and it’s easy to understand why William and Ritu Millar fell in love with it.
Process engineer Ritu, 47, said: “The gallery is awesome and there is nothing better than sitting there with a book.
“When William and I viewed the property and saw this open space we were sold on buying it.”
The Millars’ were also impressed to discover the surrounding steadings were not linked, and they had their own private entry and garden space.
The steading has been an adventure playground for the couple’s six-year-old son Lewis, who has his own den complete with trapdoor in the extensive garden.
The accommodation on the ground floor comprises a dining kitchen, utility room, cloakroom, dining room, lounge and bedroom.
On the upper floor there is the spacious landing with gallery, master bedroom with en-suite, two further bedrooms and family bathroom.
William, who is also 47 and works as a risk manager with Gripen Engineering Limited, has also enjoyed the high degree of privacy on offer.
And they both list the lounge with its stunning arched floor-to-ceiling windows and the quieter aspect of the dining room among their favourite spaces.
The steading is not too far from either Aberdeen or Dundee, and is close to the main roads.
The property has been maintained to the highest level, and has mainly been decorated and carpeted in neutral tones.
Outside, a stone chipped driveway leads to a recently-installed detached double garage.
The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with patio areas, and are surrounded and sheltered by mature trees.
