Christmas simply wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa Claus! And this year Santa only has one home this Christmas – The Bon Accord Centre!
The ARCHIE Foundation is hosting the festive Santa’s Grotto in the upper mall of the centre.
Tickets will for the grotto will cost £4.50 per child, with all profits going to The ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Each child that visits will get to meet Santa and his elves, have their photo taken, and receive a gift. The first 1,000 children to visit Santa’s grotto will receive their gift in a Christmas stocking. Photos will be available to buy in the form of keyrings, mugs, and snow-globes.
Jamie Smith, fundraising manager for ARCHIE, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming kids from across the north east as they visit the Grotto.
“It’s always a special experience for families when their little ones meet Santa. We hope that knowing the money they spend at the Grotto will be helping local sick children will make it even more special.”
Craig Stevenson, Bon Accord Centre Manager, said: “ We are delighted to welcome Santa to his Bon Accord home, our Winter Wonderland has proved popular with families over the last few years. We work in partnership with the Archie Foundation to ensure the experience creates lasting memories for all.”
The Grotto will be open every weekend (Saturdays, 10am-4pm, and Sundays, 11am-5pm) until and including December 16, then will be open weekends AND weekdays (Mondays to Fridays, 12pm-6pm) in the lead up to Christmas Eve (10am-1pm).

There is also a stunning festive light display which has made a spectacular return for Christmas 2018, following an overwhelming positive response last year.
Besides Santa’s Grotto, the Bon Accord has lots of festive activities planned to get you in the Christmas spirit.
The array of festive lights arrived at the centre recently including giant stars suspended from the upper mall, a huge Christmas tree, light-up reindeer and hanging fairy lights twinkling throughout the mall.
As usual, there will be plenty photo opportunities for shoppers this year – including a Christmas pudding on the upper mall, so get posing with the pud! This year, Bon Accord is running a competition encouraging shoppers across Aberdeenshire to share their photographs taken in the centre and tag the centre on social and use the hashtag #BonAccordChristmas – do this and you could be in with a chance of winning a Bon Accord gift card to spend on yourself!
Centre manager Craig added: “We are extremely excited for the return of our popular Christmas lights display. The response from the public was overwhelming with people travelling all over the North East to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere we had created. We work hard to introduce features which will enhance the visitor experience and create the ‘wow factor’.
“Together with our festive entertainment programme including Santa’s Winter Wonderland we look forward to delivering Christmas in the city’s heart.”
