JONNY Hayes was awarded the Evening Express Player of the Year prize today.
The Irish winger picked up the trophy for having the most Top Don awards in our Matchfiles.
Hayes was recognised by our sports teams for a superb season, where he has performed in a number of different positions.
He’s played at left-back, central midfield, left and right wing and even up front, and excelled in every role.
“I am delighted to have received the Evening Express award,” he said as he received the trophy at Pittodrie.
“I had a chat with the manager about playing centre-half against St Johnstone,” joked Hayes, “as it is the only position I have not played.
“If I can play different roles to help the team I am more than happy to.
“I will be back in midfield against St Johnstone on Sunday and if it helps the team out, I don’t mind. As long as I am on the pitch I am happy.”
