Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna and Graeme Shinnie have been named in Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad.
The Reds duo are in the group of 23 selected to face Israel in Haifa on Thursday, October 11 in the Nations League Group C1 fixture and Portugal in a friendly at Hampden three days later.
Defender McKenna, who has four caps, returns to the squad after missing the last two internationals against Belgium and Albania through injury. The 21-year-old captained the Dark Blues against Mexico in June during the summer tour of Central and South America.
Meanwhile Pittodrie captain Shinnie, who has two caps, keeps his place in Gothenburg Great McLeish’s squad after featuring as a sub in last month’s friendly against Belgium.
Dons’ winger Gary Mackay-Steven misses out on selection, despite a strong start to the season.
Former Aberdeen winger Ryan Fraser, now with English Premier League Bournemouth, has also been named in the squad.
