Championship side Bristol City are reportedly tracking Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie with the view to a potential summer signing swoop.
The Dons captain is entering the final year of his Pittodrie contract and boss Derek McInnes is desperate to tie the 26-year-old down on a new contract.
Bristol City have been monitoring Shinnie’s situation as they could be in the market for a left-back, according to HITC Sport.
First choice left-back Joe Bryan is in demand with a number of Premier League clubs chasing his signature.
Shinnie’s performances in helping the Dons secure a Premiership runners-up finish this season have been recognised at international level.
The Aberdonian has been called up to Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad for the upcoming friendlies in South America against Peru and Mexico.
Dons boss McInnes lost three key players last summer with Jonny Hayes (Celtic) and Ryan Jack (Rangers) moving on with Niall McGinn also rejecting a new contract before eventually moving to South Korea.
McGinn subsequently returned to Pittodrie during the January window.
Influential midfielder Kenny McLean also transferrred to Norwich City.
McInnes rejected a bid in excess of £1 million from Hull for Scotland cap Scott McKenna in January. He will do all he can to retain Shinnie should Bristol City test his resolve with an approach.
