Aberdeen have rejected a bid for £7 million from Aston Villa for Scott McKenna, which would have seen the defender move to the English club on loan before a permanent deal in January, according to reports.
The 21-year-old defender, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring tear, has been in demand this summer, with the Dons already knocking back a £3.5m bid for the player from rivals Celtic.
Swansea City also made an offer for him before the English deadline for permanent signings – hence Villa’s loan offer – shut on August 9.
It comes after Hull City were rebuffed by the Reds in January in their pursuit of the player.
Centre-back McKenna had a fantastic campaign last season, rising from the Pittodrie youth ranks to captaining Scotland against Mexico at the Azteco in June.
