Aberdeen are into the Betfred Cup final in December after beating Rangers 1-0 at Hampden.
Derek McInnes’ Dons were under pressure for long spells at the national stadium, but looked as dangerous as their rivals when going forward. Lewis Ferguson’s goal secured a third cup final in three seasons.
Ferguson headed the winner in the 79th minute from a Niall McGinn corner, sending the Dons end into raptures, before the Reds expertly ran down the clock.
After an even first period where McGinn blazed over and a Gary Mackay-Steven cross was tipped on to the bar by Allan McGregor, Aberdeen were under the cosh for the first part of the second half.
However, they came back into the game after Stevie May was sent on to cause chaos up front, and Ferguson showed the quality to keep the Granite City team’s hopes of a first trophy since 2014 alive.
