Hull City make move for Dons defender McKenna

Aberdeen's Scott McKenna (L) and Kari Arnason training in Dubai.

Championship side Hull City have reportedly made a bid to secure Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old Scotland U21 skipper has started 15 of the last 16 games for the Reds since making his first team breakthrough in a 1-0 win at Motherwell in September.

Centre-back McKenna signed a new long-term contract last October tying him to the Dons until summer 2021.

Dons boss Derek McInnes recently insisted he does not want to lose any first team regulars  during the January transfer window, however, Hull City boss Nigel Adkins is ready to test his resolve.

Struggling Hull are currently fourth bottom of England’s second tier.

McKenna is set to face Uzbekistan side Lokomotiv Tashkent in Dubai on Sunday in a friendly (4pm local time).

Aberdeen jet back to the Granite City from their warm weather training camp on Monday.
