Aberdeen winger Gary Mackay-Steven has been released from hospital in Glasgow after being knocked unconscious in the 1-0 Betfred Cup final loss to Celtic.
Mackay-Steven received treatment on the Hampden pitch for six minutes before being stretchered off following a clash of heads with Celtic’s Dedryck Boyata.
The Scotland international was immediately taken to hospital.
Following tests he was released on Sunday night and returned to the Dons’ hotel in Glasgow where he is being closely monitored by the club’s medical staff.
Mackay-Steven is definitely out of Wednesday’s Premiership trip to Rangers but it is hoped he will be available to face St Johnstone at Pittodrie on Saturday.
