Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes could yet gatecrash the Euro 2016 finals having earned a debut Republic of Ireland cap in the 1-0 friendly win over Switzerland.

The 28-year-old, pictured, was introduced as a 61st minute substitute for Aiden McGeady in Dublin.

Ciaran Clark grabbed an early winner for the Irish.

Martin O’Neill’s side will face Slovakia on Tuesday as he runs the rule over his options before naming a 23-man squad for France in the summer.

Hayes’ international recognition came just 24 hours after Dons team-mate Kenny McLean earned a debut Scotland cap in the 1-0 friendly win over Czech Republic in Prague.
