Aberdeen have announced long-serving defender Andrew Considine has agreed a new two-year deal.

The 29-year-old has made 376 appearances for the Dons and will now stay at Pittodrie until the summer of 2019.

Considine was one of five first team players whose contracts expire in the summer.

He becomes the third Dons player to sign a new deal in the last few weeks, following Graeme Shinnie and Jonny Hayes.

The summer was linked with a move to Rangers in the January transfer window but has quashed any chance of that.

Considine is 11th on the club’s appearance list, just four behind Eoin Jess, and made his debut way back in May 2004.

The versatile defender had a testimonial in 2015 against FC Twente of Holland for his service to the club.

A club stalwart, Considine has played left-back and centre-back during his time at Pittodrie and has scored 21 goals.
