Aberdeen FC were today handed a Scottish Cup fitness boost with winger Niall McGinn set to return from injury for Saturday’s semi-final.
Northern Ireland international McGinn missed the 2-1 win at St Johnstone at the weekend with a groin injury.
But the 29-year-old has trained for the last three days and will be part of the squad travelling to Hampden to face cup holders Hibs.
Boss Derek McInnes said: “Niall trained today and did lots of work with the physios on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
“Niall will travel to Hampden.
“He was not fit for the St Johnstone game.
“Had that been the last match of the season we might have been able to take a little risk.
“However the nature of the injury was such that if Niall aggravated it that could have put him out for longer.
“Rather than three or four days it could have been three or four weeks.
“So we just made the decision that as much as we wanted Niall to be involved at Perth, we would go and try win the game without him.”
Aberdeen have no injury concerns for the last four clash on Saturday.
McInnes said: “Everyone is good.”
