Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is once again attempting to bring Preston’s Stevie May to Pittodrie, it is understood.
The striker, 24, has battled back to full fitness having sustained a serious knee ligament injury that ruled him out for more than a year.
McInnes has attempted to land May previously and targeted a loan deal in January. He also reportedly tried to secure a season long loan for May in summer 2015 while the player was at Sheffield Wednesday.
May has a year left on his Preston deal and the Dons are understood to be weighing up a £250,000 swoop.
Aberdeen’s financial clout has been bolstered by the recent “multi-million” investment from Dave Cormack through the acquisition of shares.
The Dons also landed £1.3 million from the transfer of winger Hayes to Celtic, with Ryan Christie arriving on loan for a season as part of the deal.
