Historic Aberdeen communities to feature in TV documentary

5 Aug 2014 10.43am

TWO Aberdeen communities were to feature on a BBC documentary set to air tonight.

BBC2’s The Secret History Of Our Streets, sees TV crews travel to Aberdeen to visit the Footdee squares and Old Torry.

During filming, documentary makers visited residents in Footdee and members of the Torry Heritage Group.

The programme focuses on the Footdee squares – a series of model homes built for fishermen and their families in 1809 – but also explores Old Torry fishing village, which was lost in the 1970s when the harbour and quay area were expanded to make way for the oil industry.

The documentary was to start at 9pm on BBC2 tonight.

I watched the other two programmes in the series, about a Georgian terrace in Edinburgh & Duke Street in Glasgow - both very interesting & informative, so am looking forward to this tonight.

Is this no longer on tonight?  Has it been cancelled?  Or just really badly written article?

yeah, sounds like it's cancelled. Shame.

It'll likely be on iPlayer though if they've already recorded it, doubt they'ed just scrap the film completely...

It was on BBC2 last night - I watched it! No idea why you thought it was cancelled!

because the article said it "were" to feature and it "was" to be on, it didn't say it will be on. Thought it sounded like it was, but then wasn't...
