A DRIVER had a lucky escape after his car flipped on to its roof after a smash on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Four cars and a cyclist were involved in two separate crashes within minutes of each other on the same stretch of road.

The accidents happened on the B977 Belhelvie to Fintray road at Parkhill Nurseries at Dyce at around 5.10pm.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “It appears there was an initial two-car collision which also involved a cyclist, but the cyclist was not struck by either of the cars.”

“Thereafter there seems to have been a further two vehicles in collision down the road a bit and that appears to be a result of the first crash.”

The crashes, which happened yesterday, involved a black Volvo, a silver Peugeot 307 and a black Skoda Fabia, which ended up on its roof.

Police, who said there were no injuries, were at the scene for around two hours.
