Video: Shoe of contempt for George Bush

GEORGE Bush hailed progress in the wars that defined his presidency – and got a size-10 reminder of his unpopularity – when a man hurled two shoes at him during a news conference in Iraq.

Muntadar al-Zeidi, a television correspondent foran Iraqi station shouted: “This is your farewell kiss, you dog! This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.”

Mr Bush ducked both shoes as they narrowly missed his head.

“It was a size 10,” he joked later.

In Iraqi culture, throwing shoes is a sign of ultimate contempt.
